Adult 1:1 cycle skills

Our adult 1:1 cycle skills sessions are now available to book

————————————————————————-

If you’re a cyclist looking to improve your skills, we provide free 1:1 sessions for people aged 16 and over, tailored to suit your individual abilities and goals.  To request a free two-hour session (which can take place at any time) please complete the form at the bottom of this page.

We are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Forest eBikes to offer sessions to adults who would like to learn or improve their skills on an ebike. Please choose the ‘Forest eBike’ option in the form below to request your session with a Forest eBike. For more information please click here.

PLEASE NOTE: an eBike has a different height window and weight than an ordinary bike. We recommend checking the suitability of the bike in advance.

(If you unable to cycle unaided or are new to cycling, book onto our adult group cycle skills sessions and we will teach you how to ride a bike in a safe, off-road environment with a qualified instructor).

Urban and advanced cycle skills

During your cycle skills sessions, your instructor will assess your abilities and progressively build on them. Should you need a little more confidence in handling your bike, you may start your training session in a safe, off-road environment to refresh your cycling technique and cycling skillset before you join the roads. However, if you’re more confident about your cycling skills, you may want to perfect those by dealing with more complex junctions, heavy traffic, or working on cycling more efficiently and effectively.

Once you feel competent and confident, we can help plan the best routes to work, to friends’ houses or wherever you want to go, and we can incorporate these routes into your sessions. By working through the National Standards our instructors will help you cycle safely and with confidence on the roads.

Who can book?

Anyone who lives, works or studies in Islington is entitled to two free cycle skills sessions.

We do not offer these 1:1 sessions for children and young people aged under 16. Please visit our family cycle skills or independent cycle skills pages to find out more about our training for under 16s. If your children are new to cycling, please book a holiday course on our child holiday Bikeability page.

Bikes are available for training if required. Please ask your instructor when they first contact you.

Booking an urban or advanced cycle skills session

To book a session, please complete the form below and an instructor will contact you to arrange a time and place to meet. These sessions are for people who want to improve their riding on road; if you are a beginner or new starter please book an adult group cycle skills session (beginner or basic).
